Music Director

Cheng Chi Shan Christopher ¾G´¼¤s

Newly appointed as the Music Director of Hong Kong Youth Choir, Christopher Cheng Chi Shan graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University and Chinese University of Hong Kong with BA, PgDE and MA degrees in music. He holds DipABRSM and LRSM (percussion) and certificates (singing and piano) with distinctions. He also holds an American Guild of English Handbell Ringers Level I Handbell Director's Certificate.

He majored in percussion performance under the supervision of Dr. Lung Hung Wing while he was at Baptist University. He studied choral and orchestral conducting with Dr. Esther Mang and Prof. Carmen Koon and practiced voice under Ms. Rosaline Pi. He received choral training in Die Konzertisten , HKBU Choir, HKBU Girls' Choir and Hong Kong Chamber Choir. Christopher also conducts various school and community choirs and orchestras.

He participated as a conductor in the Vancouver Chamber Choir National Conductors' Symposium in February, 2012. He was a guest lecturer in the 2007 Taiwan International Handbell Seminar, and at Concordia University of Alberta 2009 Singspiration . He also performed in the 16th International Handbell Symposium in Orlando, U.S. A. and the 17 th International Handbell Symposium in Osaka, Japan.

He was supported by Hong Kong Arts Development Council in the Young Emerging Artist scheme.
